Embers of a Faded Heart
I am the shadow beneath the sun,
Life curses me, and I come undone.
Guts to live, they slip away,
In this world, I cannot stay.
No loved ones left, no partner’s hand,
All vanished like shifting sand.
Seconds turn to endless night,
Beloved once, now out of sight.
But this time’s different, this time’s new,
Blood clotting with dust, with waste, with rue.
I loved her more than stars in sky,
Yet here I burn, alone, awry.
Useless in love, unworthy still,
A fire that fades, no warmth to fill.
Just a boy, dead in the flame,
To mud and ashes, I lay my claim.
Lost in the ashes of love, where once there was fire.
